How does it work?

Depending on a person's age and state of health his or her ears can hear different maximum frequencies. While school children can spot very high frequencies - but maybe consider them awkward - the noticeable maximum frequency constantly decreases with increasing age. If a person is unable to hear enough for his or her age, this may be caused by a disease or a permanent impairment.
